Clinton Hough

2025-26 Sailing Head Coach

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Clinton Hough to The Greene School community! Dr. Hough is joining the upper school history department and, even more excitingly, will be starting our new sailing program and coaching our high school sailing team.

A lifelong sailor, Coach Hough began racing Opti’s at the age of 5 and progressed to 420s in high school. He continued to race in college at The Citadel and remains passionate about all things water-related. Throughout his career as a teacher, he has taught and coached sailing for middle and high school students, including coaching the national championship high school sailing team at Ransom Everglades in Miami.

Coach Hough is eager to develop an instructional and competitive sailing program at TGS that emphasizes performance-based athletic development, with a focus on process, structure, and individual assessment. Beyond racing and regattas, he aims to instill the values of seamanship, teamwork, and a love for nature in his sailors. His goal is for students to excel not only in sailing but also academically and to grow as individuals.

Above all, Coach Hough is excited to get TGS students out on the water to learn, compete, and most importantly, have fun!
